Ain't I A Woman?

Well, children, where there is so much racket there must be something out of kilter. I think that ‘twixt the negroes of the South and the women at the North, all talking about rights, the white men will be in a fix pretty soon. But what’s all this here talking about?

That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere. Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles, or gives me any best place! And ain’t I a woman? Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ain’t I a woman? I could work as much and eat as much as a man – when I could get it – and bear the lash as well! And ain’t I a woman? I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother’s grief, none but Jesus heard me! And ain’t I a woman?

Then they talk about this thing in the head; what’s this they call it? [member of audience whispers, “intellect”] That’s it, honey. What’s that got to do with women’s rights or negroes’ rights? If my cup won’t hold but a pint, and yours holds a quart, wouldn’t you be mean not to let me have my little half measure full?

Then that little man in black there, he says women can’t have as much rights as men, ’cause Christ wasn’t a woman! Where did your Christ come from? Where did your Christ come from? From God and woman! Man had nothing to do with Him.

If the first women God ever made was strong enough to turn the world upside down all alone, these women together ought to be able to turn it back, and get it right side up again! And now they is asking to do it, the men better let them.

Proverbs 26

The Lazy Women

A fool is the lazy women
Who’s evil heart is full of hatred and anger
Her life is full of strife
For through her lying tongue
She whispers the truth of the deceiver
A follower of light
Is who she believes she is to be

Proverbs 26

Like snow in summer, and like rain in harvest, so not (is) right for a fool honor. 

As the bird wondering, as the swallow in its flying, so the curse cause less not shall come. 

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass: and a rod for the back of fools. 

Not Do answer a fool by his folly, lest you become like him, even you. 

Answer a fool by his folly. Lest he may be wise in his own eyes. 

(He) cuts off (his own ) feet (and ) violence drinks. 

Who sends messages by a hand a fools. 

Weak (are) the legs of the lame, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. 

As he who binds a stone on a sling, so he who gives to a fool honor. 

A thorn goes up into hand the drunkards and a proverb in the mouth of fools . 

Great is the Former of all things: but he who hires a fool, (is like) one hiring those passing by. 

As a dog that returns to its own vomit a fool repeats with his foolishness. 

Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? (More) hope for a fool than (for) him. 

Says the lazy one, A lion (is) in the way: a lion is between the streets! 

(As) the door turns on its hinge, (so) the lazy one on his coach. 

buries The lazy one his hand in the dish, he is weary to bring it back to his mouth. 

(is) wiser The lazy one in his own eyes than seven that return a wise answer. 

(Like) one who grabs the ears of a dog, (is) the passer by enraging himself over strife (that is) not to him.

 Like a madman who throws sparks, arrows, and death. So (is) the man who deceives his neighbor and says, Am not looking I? 

Where is no wood, goes out the fire; and where no whisperer grows silent the strife. 

(As) coal burning to embers and wood to fire, so (is) a man of strife to kindle constellation.

The words of the whisper (are) like tasty morsels, and they enter into the chambers of the heart. 

(As with) silver dross laid over an earthen vessel, (so are) lips burning and a heart evil. 

With his lips dissembles He who hates; and in his inner being he lays up deceit; when is gracious his voice, not do believe him, for seven hateful things (are) in his heart. 

Is covered Hatred by guile; shall be reviled his evil in the assembly. 

He who digs a pit into it shall fall; and he who rolls a stone to him it shall return. 

A tongue lying hates those it crushes and a flattering mouth works stumbling.

Proverbs 11

[11:10] When prosper the righteous, rejoices the city; and at the perishing of the wicked is singing.

[22] A ring of Gold in snout a swine’s, is a women beautiful, even turning aside discretion.

[H22] A beautiful women lacking discretion and modesty is like a fine gold ring in a pigs snout.

Balances false (are) hateful to Jehovah; but a stone perfect (is) His delight. Comes pride, then comes shame; but with the humble (is) wisdom. the integrity of the upright guides them; but the deceit of traitors destroys them. Not does profit wealth in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivers from death. righteousness the perfect’s makes straight his way; but by his wickedness falls the wicked. The righteousness of the upright delivers them; but in (their) lust traitors shall be taken. In the death of a man wicked, shall perish (his) expectation, and the hope of troubler shall be lost. The righteous from trouble is delivered; and enters the wicked (in) his place. With the mouth the ungodly ruins his friend, but by knowledge the righteous is delivered. When prosper the righteous, rejoices the city; and at the perishing of the wicked (is) singing. By the blessing of the upright is lifted up a city; but by mouth the wicked’s it is overthrown. One despising his friend lacks heart; but a man of understanding remains silent. One going (with) slander is a revealer of secrets, but the faithful of spirit keeps hidden a matter. In the absence of (wise) counsel fall the people; but safety (is) in a great counselor. Evil one suffers when he is surety for an alien; but one hating strikes (of hands) (is) safe. a women gracious holds to honor; and terrifying (men) hold to riches. Does (well) (to) his own soul a man merciful but troubles his own flesh the cruel. The wicked makes a wage of falsehood; but one sowing righteousness (has) a reward of truth. Genuine righteousness (is) to life; but one pursuing evil to his own death. Hateful to Jehovah (are) the perverse of heart; but His delight the upright in way. One troubling his house inherits the wind; and a servant (is) fool to the wise of heart. The fruit of the just (is) a tree of life; and one taking souls (is) wise. Behold, the righteous in the earth will be repaid also indeed the wicked and the sinner.
